About Beechmont Players, Inc.

Beechmont Players, the Eastside's award-winning community theater group, has been entertaining the eastern section of Greater Cincinnati since Alaska became a state in 1959.  Motown Record Label was founded, Ben Hur premiered in movie theatres, the Twilight Zone debuted on television and Beechmont Players produced their first play.  Beechmont Players is proud to put the “community” in community theatre, with more than 100 members donating their time and talent to bring live theater to the over 135,000 residents of the area.

Beechmont Players was founded in 1959, the brainchild of four local Procter & Gamble employees.   The four ran an article in the Mt. Washington Press announcing a meeting to organize a community theatre group and Beechmont Players was born.  The Players’ original logo was designed eastsider Arthur C. Crockett.  The group incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 1974.

The Players mounted their first production, Solid Gold Cadillac, in the fall of 1959 and have performed on stages throughout the Anderson area including Eastern Hills Junior High, Maddux Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, Turpin Junior High and for the last twenty years, UC Clermont College in Batavia.  In addition to their “regular” season, the Players have performed revues at Summerfair and at the Cincinnati Park Board's Music in the Park series.  The Players presented an original short production entitled “The Wolfangel Story” at Anderson Township's Bicentennial Celebration in 1993.

The Beechmont Players provide a consistently excellent fare of comedies, farces, mysteries and musicals, drawing on the talents of actors and technicians who are among the best in the area.  The Players creatively mix cherished classics by established playwrights with exciting regional premieres and offerings from foreign dramatists.  Each year, the Players’ excellence is acknowledged with multiple awards at the Southwest Regional OCTAfest (Ohio Community Theatre Association), which celebrates the rich artistic heritage and talent Cincinnati has to offer theatre-goers.

Beechmont Players is theatre presented by the community for the community.  The Players welcome participation in all their productions and activities-- acting, set design and construction, costumes, makeup, properties, lighting, sound, ushering, ticket sales and advertising sales among others.

In the fall of 2007, the Beechmont Players become the Arts Organization in Residence at the fabulous new Anderson Center.  The Beechmont Players hold monthly meetings and anyone interested in finding out more about the Players is encouraged to attend.  Contact the Beechmont Players at 513-BEECHMT (233-3468).  Or send a request for information through their website at beechmontplayers.com.  The Beechmont Players’ mailing address is P.O.
